biography
Fulvio Bianconi (Ponte di Brenta, August 27, 1915 – Milan, May 14, 1996) was an Italian artist, designer, and graphic artist, renowned especially for his creations in Murano glass. Son of the musician Virginio (also known as Emo) and Elvira, he showed a remarkable talent for drawing from a young age. In Venice, he attended the Scuola d’arte dei Carmini and worked as an apprentice decorator in Michele Pinto’s workshop. He collaborated with major Milanese publishers such as Arnoldo Mondadori Editore and Motta, thanks to the introduction by Dino Villani.
In the 1940s, he approached the world of artistic glass, working with some of the most prestigious Murano furnaces, especially the renowned Venini. His style is characterized by vibrant colors, asymmetrical shapes, and experimental techniques, which revolutionized 20th-century glass art. Among his most famous works are the "America" series and the "Informali" vases, which became true icons of Italian design.
Fulvio Bianconi left an indelible mark on the history of Italian design and graphic art, participating in major exhibitions such as the Milan Triennale and the Venice Biennale. His works are still highly sought after and are the subject of study and appraisal by experts and collectors. His figure has been celebrated in numerous exhibitions, including one organized by Le Stanze del Vetro at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice.
