biography
Luca Alinari was an Italian painter born in Florence in 1943 and passed away in 2019. A self-taught artist, he debuted in 1968 with his first solo exhibition at the Galleria Inquadrature in Florence. During the 1970s, Alinari developed an artistic research characterized by the free juxtaposition of objects and figures within fantastic and suspended atmospheres, influenced by Neodada and Pop Art movements. He experimented with various painting techniques, including fluorescent colors, decalcomania, collage, and photographic transfers, creating works rich in irony and reflections on social and autobiographical reality.
In the 1980s, he gained significant recognition, participating in the Venice Biennale in 1982 and the Rome Quadriennales. His work is distinguished by high figurative precision and fluorescent colorism, enriching images with connections and insinuations. Alinari maintained friendships with prominent writers such as Alfonso Gatto, Edoardo Sanguineti, José Saramago, and Goffredo Parise, who contributed to enhancing his painting through poetry and critical essays.
