biography
Franco Villoresi, born in Città di Castello in 1920 and died in Arezzo in 1975, was one of the most representative painters of Italian art in the immediate postwar period. His artistic career developed between Umbria and Tuscany, with a body of work ranging from informal painting to collages of objects and antique papers, characterized by a strong sense of materiality and memory. Villoresi attended the classical lyceum in Rome and had contact with important figures in the Italian cultural scene, including Curzio Malaparte, who influenced both his artistic and literary path.
Villoresi’s works are often signed and dated, distinguished by the use of mixed techniques, oil on canvas, and collage. His paintings have been featured in numerous Italian auctions, including those organized by Colasanti Casa d’Aste, where works of significant artistic and historical value have been appraised and sold.
Villoresi was also a writer, and his artistic activity was intertwined with his literary pursuits, demonstrating a multidisciplinary approach to creation.
