Flemish tapestry

Flanders probably Antwerp or Brussels circa 1680
Dimensions:
261x375 cm.
in wool and silk, depicting a scene from the Story of Samson, wears and defects. It features two seals, applied later, one of which bears a double-headed eagle, evidence of an ancient noble or institutional provenance. The tapestry was originally equipped with a decorative frame, now absent, replaced by a blue external border added in a later period. Provenance: Bonhams London, 30 November 2023.
