Vermeil silver inkwell with two crystal ampoules

Oval section with two handles, richly decorated with snakes, mythological figures and naturalistic motifs, resting on four pierced feet adorned with masks, complete with two crystal ampoules with silver frames, slight defects. Within box containing the inscription "H.M.S. Cavendish Launched 12th April 1944", donated on the occasion of the inauguration of the destroyer by the Duchess Mary of Buccleuch.
