porphyry circular-shaped snuff box with micromosaic plaque representing a dog with a butterfly. Giacomo Raffaelli is considered the founder of the school of micromosaics and the first who valorized this art. Since 1668 the activity of the family is documented and noted for the high quality. They produced also the enamels themselves and were purveyors for the RFSP. The workshops of Giacomo Raffaelli where located in Piazza di Spagna in the center of Rome.
