Antwerp 1639 - 1689/1700
"Portrait of Maria Isabella Massimo Muti Papazzurri", oil on canvas, with giltwood frame. Lady Maria was the daughter of Mario Massimo prior of Capiorioni and magistrate of the conservatives and Laura Cusida. She was married to Marquis Pompeo Girolamo Papazzurri, which died the 13th June of 1660 and was burried in San Peters in Montorio. An anonymous source describes her like this: "This lady unites many virtues like beauty, modesty, prudence and every other rare virtue..." The painting is inscribed on the upper border 'CRISTINA. DUC. LANTE', which was probably added in the 18th century. Provenance: Cantalupo in Sabina, Palazzo Camuccini.
