biography
Tommaso Lisanti, born in Ferrandina (Matera) in 1956 and passed away in Rome in 2023, was an Italian artist whose career developed mainly in the capital. His artistic production is distinguished by a unique style that blends figuration and abstraction into evocative, futuristic representations. Lisanti is best known for his paintings depicting aliens, flying saucers, and extraterrestrial landscapes, anticipating themes now widely popular in cinema and contemporary pop culture. His art, characterized by a deep sense of mystery and enigma, has captured the collective imagination and anticipated trends embraced by younger generations.
Lisanti moved across various artistic movements, including the circle of Gino De Dominicis, the Pio Monti gallery, and Transavanguardia, always maintaining an original and lateral position. His works, realized with mixed techniques such as oil on canvas, charcoal, and tempera on synthetic fabric, have been exhibited in important galleries and exhibitions, including the recent retrospective at the Fondazione SoutHeritage in Matera, which celebrated his role as a leading figure in contemporary Italian painting. Among his most notable works are 'Aliena con pattini' and 'Senza titolo,' which demonstrate his ability to explore new worlds and provoke mechanisms of the absurd.
