Nino Franchina, born Antonino Franchina, was a prominent Italian artist, draftsman, and sculptor, born in Palmanova on June 25, 1912, and died in Rome on April 20, 1987. Raised in Palermo, he graduated in sculpture from the local Academy in 1934. Franchina made his debut at a young age, exhibiting for the first time at the III Roman Biennale when he was only twenty. In the 1930s, in Milan, he joined the Corrente group, and later, in Rome, became associated with the Fronte nuovo delle arti.
