biography
Mario Consiglio is a contemporary artist born in Maglie, Lecce, in 1968. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino and is an honorary academic at the 'Pietro Vannucci' Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia. His artistic career began in the late 1980s, marked by an eclectic and experimental expressive language spanning sculpture, painting, photography, video, and ready-made art. Consiglio is best known for his "padded paintings," created using innovative materials such as lycra and foam rubber, which give his works a unique three-dimensionality and strong visual impact. He lives and works between Berlin and Perugia, where he continues to develop his artistic research.
His art is characterized by a strong political and conceptual component, often ironic and provocative, reflecting a critique of contemporary reality. Among his most significant works are life-sized fiberglass animal sculptures and installations exploring themes of realism and the decay of nature. Consiglio has collaborated with poets and artists, including Davide Banda, creating a dialogue between visual art and poetry. His works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and are included in important public and private collections.
Mario Consiglio is a prominent figure in Italian contemporary art, with a production that combines technical experimentation and conceptual depth.
