biography
Luca Pignatelli is an Italian artist born in Milan in 1962, renowned for his work that blends archaeology, history, and contemporary art. Son of the artist Ercole Pignatelli, he studied architecture in Milan before dedicating himself to painting, also spending time in New York to deepen his training. His art is characterized by a process of collecting, recovering, and reworking iconography, where he overlays images of Greek and Roman statues, mythological deities, modern architecture, and landscapes, creating a true "Theater of Memory." His works use recycled materials such as tarps, wood, and metal sheets, representing historical and social memory, dialoguing between classicism and modernity with a strong sense of melancholy and beauty. Pignatelli lives and works in Milan in a self-designed house-studio that reflects his attention to architecture and space. His artistic production has been exhibited in numerous shows in Italy and abroad, and his works are included in important public and private collections.
