biography
Giuseppe Madaudo, known as Beppe, is an Italian artist, illustrator, and comic book artist born in Palermo in 1950. His passion for art began as a child observing a neighbor, a retired natural sciences professor passionate about drawing, who mainly depicted animals. At three years old, his family moved to Acireale, his father's hometown, before returning to Palermo, where Madaudo inherited the professor's works upon his death, deciding to immerse himself in studying drawing until mastering the technique. In 1979, signing as Melville for the magazine Metropoli, he drew the kidnapping of Aldo Moro with extreme realism that drew the attention of the judiciary due to similarities with Brigate Rosse hideouts. In the 1980s, he collaborated on the first issues of Corto Maltese magazine with a comic inspired by Petronius' Satyricon, showcasing pictorial skills in lettering, framing, and compositions. In 1989, he illustrated The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen for Olivetti at Giorgio Soavi's invitation.
