biography
Ferruccio Ferrazzi (Rome, March 15, 1891 – Rome, December 8, 1978) was a prominent Italian painter and sculptor of the twentieth century. The eldest son of sculptor Stanislao Ferrazzi, Ferruccio began painting as a child alongside his brother Benvenuto, who was also a painter. His artistic training took place mainly in Rome, where he lived most of his life and created many of his most important works. Ferrazzi was an eclectic and versatile artist, known for his ability to work across various techniques and styles, and he was the first Italian to win the prestigious Carnegie Prize in New York. Throughout his career, he actively engaged in the Italian artistic debate, collaborating with key figures of the Novecento movement and contributing to mural and public art, as evidenced by his major commissions for the Palazzo delle Corporazioni in Rome. His work is characterized by a prismatic and simultaneous vision of reality, appreciated during his lifetime but somewhat forgotten after World War II, only to be rediscovered in recent exhibitions. Ferruccio Ferrazzi died in Rome in 1978, leaving a significant artistic legacy in the landscape of twentieth-century Italian art.
