biography
Bernardo Siciliano is an Italian painter born in Rome in 1969, renowned for his depictions of urban landscapes and nude figures. He is the son of the writer Enzo Siciliano and began exhibiting his works at a young age, with his first solo show held in 1991 at the Il Gabbiano Gallery in Rome. His artistic formation is deeply influenced by the Italian Renaissance, especially Piero della Francesca, as well as artists like Edward Hopper and Lucian Freud. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, including major fairs such as CIAE in Chicago, FIAC in Paris, and Arte Fiera in Bologna. In 1998, he was awarded the prestigious XXXII Prix International d'Art Contemporain in Monte Carlo, and in 2001 he won the Premio Cairo Communication. Currently living and working in New York, Siciliano continues to develop his art with a strong emotional connection to the reality he observes. His works have been represented by the Aicon Gallery in New York since 2016 and exhibited in prominent venues such as the Albright Knox Museum in Buffalo and the Forni Gallery in Bologna. His painting style is marked by rigorous perspective and an intense, almost obsessive vision of urban and human reality.
