Banksy

Banksy, born in Bristol in 1974, is one of the most influential and enigmatic contemporary street artists. His true identity remains unknown, sparking numerous theories and debates, including the possibility that Banksy is a single individual, a woman, or even a collective of artists. Banksy began his artistic career in the 1990s in Bristol, where he was part of the DryBreadZ Crew, and gained international recognition through his provocative and satirical stencils addressing political, social, and ethical themes. His works, often created at night on walls, bridges, and public spaces, are found worldwide—from London to New York, Paris to Naples—and are characterized by strong visual impact and critical messages against conformity, war, social injustice, and exploitation. Among his most famous works is "The Mild Mild West," a 1997 mural symbolizing rebellion against authority. Despite his anonymity, Banksy has achieved global fame and influenced both emerging and professional artists, creating the so-called "Banksy effect."
