biography
Alfredo Biagini was an Italian sculptor, ceramicist, and interior decorator of significant importance in the twentieth-century artistic landscape. Born in Rome on February 20, 1886, into a family of goldsmiths, Biagini grew up in an environment rich with artisanal traditions that profoundly influenced his artistic formation. In 1905 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he studied sculpture and architecture, developing a solid technical foundation that would characterize his entire career. In 1909 he abandoned his academic studies to move to Paris, where he came into contact with the most innovative artistic currents of the era, particularly the Art Deco movement, which would deeply mark his stylistic language. His artistic practice distinguished itself through versatility and technical excellence: Biagini established himself as one of the most influential artists in the field of sculpture and ceramics, creating works ranging from figurative bronzes to decorative ceramics and graphics. His sculptures, characterized by elegant and refined forms, reflect Art Deco aesthetics with particular attention to the representation of the human figure and fauna. Biagini died in Rome on July 14, 1952, leaving behind a significant artistic legacy testified by numerous works preserved in public and private collections. His production, comprising nearly one hundred works including ceramics, bronzes, and graphics, represents a fundamental contribution to Italian decorative art of the early twentieth century.
