biography
Alberto Di Fabio, born in Avezzano (AQ) in 1966, is a leading Italian contemporary artist renowned for his exploration of the intersections between science, nature, and abstraction. The son of Pasquale Di Fabio, a Marsican artist, and a mother who was a science teacher, Alberto grew up in a culturally and scientifically stimulating environment that deeply influenced his artistic practice. After studying at the Liceo Artistico in Rome and the Academy of Fine Arts, he further enriched his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino.
Di Fabio’s painting investigates themes related to the cosmos, chemical reactions, mineral fusions, DNA, and the neural system, magnifying these elements as if under a microscope and transforming them into abstract, geometric, and vibrantly colored visions. His works, characterized by circular forms, spirals, and mandalas, evoke a sense of movement and energy, immersing viewers in intense visual experiences. His technique ranges from acrylic on canvas and Chinese paper to collage, often with manual interventions on newspaper pages.
Di Fabio has exhibited in prestigious international venues, including the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, MART in Rovereto, the Estorik Collection in London, CERN in Geneva, and the Bullukian Foundation in Lyon. He has collaborated with major galleries such as Gagosian Gallery, Luca Tommasi in Milan, and Umberto Di Marino in Naples, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
Alberto Di Fabio stands as a bridge between art and science, between family tradition and innovation, maintaining a unique and recognizable visual language within the Italian and international contemporary art scene. His research continues to evolve, always engaging in an open dialogue with new scientific discoveries and the inspirations of nature.
